Junior Team

The Junior Team is intended for divers at a beginner to intermediate level of expertise. Whether you are looking to refine and improve your skills for the NVSL season, or you are eventually wanting to become a serious competitor in USA Diving, this is the right program for you!

There will be a system of skill progressions that divers will be asked to complete as they improve their mechanics and technique within the Junior Team. Divers and parents will be provided these skill progressions that will be very specific for every aspect of practice from the trampoline, to mat work, to the 1 meter and 3 meter boards. No matter what interest level your child has in diving, it is absolutely essential that they all go through the same skill progressions in order to be a successful diver at any level of competition.

The divers skill level will be assessed during practices and it is important to know that each diver will progress at a pace that meets their specific abilities and desires at any particular time. By successfully progressing through all the skills asked of a diver of the Junior Team, divers will hopefully be ready to join the Advanced Team and further their advancement within Dominion Dive Club or they can opt to continue to master their technique and skills on the Junior Team. It is strongly suggested that divers stay with this program on a year round basis in order to maximize their progress. Year round participation however is not a requirement. There will be several optional meets** throughout the year that will be available for members of the Junior Team.

We have a new state of the art dryland center. Divers are greatly encouraged to participate in practices at this facility. If divers are to practice a second day with Dominion Dive Club, the second day is required to be at the dryland facility. One day of diving will sustain your skill level over the winter. If you'd like for your child to improve over the summer, multiple days of practice per week are essential! If parents would like their child to practice a second day in the water, they will need to sign up for a third day for the session. Dryland training is where divers learn how to dive in the most controlled and safe environment. Divers who participate in practices at our dryland facility will see far greater improvement on a week to week basis than those divers only doing one day a week. Please contact us with any questions on training at the dryland center.

** - Divers participating in optional meets will need to pay meet fees as follows - 1 day local Novice Meet $20 per event, 2 day local Novice meet $25      per event,  away Novice meet $75 per event.

* No class can be dropped after the first month of that session
